About Check Ride
Check Ride has been in business for over 30 years and in that time we’ve helped thousands of students learn how to safely navigate the roads as a commercial truck driver. We take truck driving seriously and our students’ success is the main goal for every program we offer.
Our owner, Jeff Smith, conducted commercial driver's licensing skill testing for the department of licensing for over 18 years and served on the steering committee that helped the DOL develop the mandatory CDL training standards. As a truck driver/owner operator and heavy duty truck mechanic, Jeff understands the demands placed on today’s truck drivers and has keen insight into the skills necessary to excel at the job.
More than a longtime school owner with a managerial presence, Jeff is still directly involved with our students and oversees the day-to-day process that makes our training such a success.
Check Ride has small class sizes designed to ensure that each student gets the attention necessary to fully understand the rules, regulations and safety measures for CDL certification. Much of our road training is taught one-on-one: you’ll spend more time driving and learning hands-on skills versus watching from the sleeper.
Train Safely, Learn Comfortably
We train drivers for both local and over the road positions, and unlike most CDL training facilities, at Check Ride, you’ll never be stuck outside in the rain and the cold weather while practicing for key portions of your certification.
We own a large 3.6 acre campus that includes a large air conditioned classroom and training yard, therefore ensuring you can devote your full attention to the training with zero distractions.
Your skill testing will be conducted by the DOL at the Everett testing facility. This means you don’t have to worry about a possible retest because a 3rd party tester was used.
